IHC Membership

IHC members are very important to IHC.  We want the support of all New Zealanders to make a difference in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.  If you are interested in IHC and intellectual disability, you could become a member.  You will have the opportunity to be part of a wide range of activities that benefit people with intellectual disabilities and stand up for their rights.

Annual membership is $5 per individual member.  We no longer have family or joint memberships but we are offering either a one or three year membership.   

Benefits of IHC Membership

As a member you can:

  • Attend and vote at the IHC Annual General Meeting. 
  • Receive Strong Voices – IHC’s magazine (stories, news and views).
  • Be a supporter of our advocacy campaigns and submissions.
  • Have free use of the IHC Library and Information Services.
  • Be invited to be part of IHC Forums and local events.
  • Be invited to contribute to local fundraising events.
  • Have the opportunity to be part of your local IHC Association.

Methods of Membership Payments 

  1. Via internet banking.
  2. Online via IHC’s website using a debit or credit card.
  3. Directly in to IHC’s bank account.
  4. Over the counter at a BNZ branch.
  5. Membership monies can be paid at the local IDEA Services branch but these cannot be banked into the local IDEA Services bank account.  IDEA Services must forward (via courier) any membership payments made.
  6. Committee members take payment and pay on behalf of the person or multiple persons as long as there is a paper trial kept of who you have received the monies from.
  7. Phone banking (in the process of being set up but still a little way away).

Association Membership Lists

For updated copies of your Association's membership lists, please email Danette.  Just a reminder that membership lists are now password protected.  This means you will need to enter a password when prompted before being able to open / access the document. 

The password will always remain the same (unless otherwise notified) and will be the “the name of your Association followed by the month in digits” (ie; northcanterbury11).  

It will always be lower case with no spaces and the months January to August would appear as 01, 02, 03 etc. 


Don't forget to get an updated membership list each time you contact your members just in case contact information has changed.

Please delete any membership lists after use - please do not store these on your computers or database - this is an IHC data privacy requirement.  Thank you.
