The theme for this year's competition is "nature".

How to Enter

Make your very own bookmark! You can use either the official competition template; or your own bookmark design (however it must sized at 5cm x 19cm).

Each artist can enter only one bookmark and we must receive your online entry before 11.59pm on Sunday 26 April 2026. We are unable to accept late entries.

Who Can Enter

You must be a rangatahi (young person) aged 21 or under with an intellectual disability and / or autism to enter. You must also live in New Zealand as a citizen or permanent resident.

You do not have to be an IHC Library member to join the competition. Your bookmark artwork must be created by you, with only a little help if needed.

Uploading Your Bookmark

Please upload one (1) to three (3) clear photos of your bookmark.

Save images as either a JPEG, GIF or PNG file.

Use only letters, numbers, underscores and hyphens in file names. Each image must be under 1MB (less than 500KB is best).


These images will be used by our judges - so make sure the photos are nice and clear, and only of your bookmark
Make sure you keep your bookmark design somewhere safe, we will need the original design.

2026 IHC Library Bookmark Competition – Terms & Conditions 1. Eligibility Entrants must be rangatahi (young people) with an intellectual disability and / or autism. Entrants must be a New Zealand citizen or permanent resident. Participants do not need to be IHC Library users to enter. Bookmarks must be created by the entrant listed on the entry form, with minimal assistance from others. Age categories: Category 1: 7 years and under Category 2: 8 to 12 years Category 3: 13 to 7 years Category 4: 18 to 21 2. Artwork Requirements Entries must be flat and suitable for printing, either created on the official template or designed to the specified size: 5cm x 21 cm. Accepted mediums: drawing, painting, collage (flat only), or digital design. Digital entries must be submitted in JPG or PDF format, sized 5cm x 21cm at 300 DPI. All designs must be original and created with minimal help. 3. How to Enter Complete the official bookmark template or design a bookmark to the specified size. One entry per child. Submit entries via the online entry form by 11:59 PM NZDT, 26th April 2026. Late entries will not be accepted. 4. Judging Entries will be judged on creativity, effort, and presentation. The judges’ decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into. 5. Prizes First, second, and third prizes will be awarded in each age category. Prizes are not transferable, exchangeable, or redeemable for cash. Details of prizes will be published on the competition page. 6. Winners Winners will be announced in May 2026 via IHC’s Facebook and Instagram. By entering, participants (and their parent/guardian) consent to their first name, age category, and entry being displayed publicly if they win. Winners must send the original bookmark design to IHC for printing by the specified date at the address below: IHC Library IHC New Zealand Level 15, 57 Willis Street or PO Box 4155 Wellington 6140 7. Publication & Reproduction By entering, participants (and their parent/guardian) agree that IHC may publish, reproduce, and use their artwork for promotional purposes related to this and future competitions, without payment of any fee, royalty, or commission. IHC will not sell the artwork for profit. 8. Parental Consent By submitting an entry, the parent / guardian confirms they consent to their child’s participation and agree to these Terms and Conditions. 9. General IHC accepts no responsibility for lost, late, or damaged entries. IHC reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition if circumstances beyond its control make this unavoidable. 10. Privacy By providing personal information, you consent to its collection, storage, use, and disclosure as outlined in IHC’s Website Privacy Statement.
